Everyday Escapism is about escaping to a better world… A promising future you can contribute to with the day-to-day choices you make. Wether you choose vintage over fast fashion, try out that recently opened vegan restaurant or showing the world your true self by not holding back on your creative self-expression.
I know this blog isn’t going to miraculously stop famine or bring world peace. But my mission with this blog is to inspire people to think about how they can contribute to make the world a little bit more wonderful. Every choice matters & small steps accumulate to a huge difference<3 Changing the world doesn’t have to be a drag… It’s simple & fun! So check out those sustainable fashion options & try out a vegan recipe or two ;)

If you’re wondering about the girl behind the blog I’ve written a little bio for you here… Let’s just start at the beginning shall we? I was born on the beautiful island of Terschelling but currently living in Amsterdam. Here I graduated as a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Amsterdam studying Media & Culture and later specialising in Film Studies. I’m interested in philosophy, art, culture and society as a whole but I especially like to theorise about cultural phenomena and correlated power structures.
Fashion has always been an important part of my life, ever since I was a little girl! I tend to call myself a style schizophrenic as I like exploring different styles and persona through fashion. One day I can show up in a preppy look and the day after that in a ‘Joy Division’ bandshirt! With this ‘Fashion by Mood, not by Trend‘ philosophy I hope to take you on a journey of self-expression through fashion. Hopefully inspiring you to make bolder fashion choices and to let go of ‘what other people might think’!
Simultaneously I also want to create a positive impact on the world and that’s also why I’ve started Everyday Escapism. I’ve been a cruelty free hippie & (nearly-there) vegan for a while…. spreading the positive vibes through fashion is the natural next step! As of recently I decided to only buy vintage, second-hand or thrifted clothing, or buy from (fashion) brands who’s ethics are completely in line with my own. (Read all about it on ‘My Struggles with being a Fashion Blogger… It’s Time for a Change!‘)
Apart from blogging I (obviously) really love films! I’m a total art house geek. I also really like photography and I hope to do more portraits and fashion shoots in the future.
Oh, how could I forget: I share my home with two awesome bunnies whom I absolutely adore. Bibi & Bobby were both adopted and I cherish them everyday <3
As you can probably tell from my blog I’m also a vegan foodie and I love cooking cruelty free meals for me and my friends. What else can I tell you about me? I’m a sagittarius and my Chinese astrology sign is goat. My favourite painter is Salvador Dali. That’s about it I guess! If there’s anything more you’d like to know about me just let me know!
For some addition insights into me as a person and what’s currently going on in my life I’ll add a few personal blogposts <3

Because of my recent health problems I’m not able to blog as much as I’d like… Keeping to a blogging schedule is not really an option due to my varying energy levels. I’ll try to post something at least once or twice a week so check back in every now and again if you’d like to stay up to date! Thanks for understanding <3
